Future Tracks Online Community Guidelines

Thank you for being part of the Future Tracks Online Community. To ensure the best possible experience for all members, we have established some basic guidelines for participation.

It is important to know what you’re agreeing to by signing up – so please take the time to review the below before joining.

Our Community Guidelines

Our guidelines apply everywhere within the Future Tracks Online Community – they are our shared contract with you. The community is moderated to help us build a constructive and positive culture together. We need your help to keep this place welcoming, useful and safe for all.

  • Think big. Members are invited to use an alias for their public profile if they wish and should avoid referencing their employer in their usernames or public posts. This helps us focus on bigger ideas and issues in the Sector.
  • Be supportive. Encourage and support your fellow members.
  • Share generously. Your ideas and experiences may be exactly what another member needs to hear today to solve a problem or seize an opportunity.
  • Practice curiosity. Our community is about helping each other grow and challenging one another. Ask anything!
  • Be sensible. This community is here to help you succeed and improve early childhood education and care. It’s not a place to promote your services or have a go at people.
  • Be respectful. Remember the importance of people’s privacy and protect fellow member’s rights to disclose what they choose.
  • Think long-term. Your contributions in the community are long-term – think about how what you ask, answer or share can make the community better over time.
  • Tell us about issues. If you have a negative experience or see these guidelines not being followed, let us know by contacting community@futuretracks.org.au so we can help.
  • Zero tolerance. No hate speech, defamatory content, graphic content or unlawful activity of any kind will be tolerated. Let’s make this a positive corner of the internet!
  • Compliance. These should be easy agreements. If you think you’ll be unable to abide by these guidelines, which include the rules under Discussion Thread Etiquette and The Legal Stuff, let us know and we can remove your account.

Discussion Thread Etiquette

The Future Tracks Online Community is a place where members can engage in thriving discussions about topics and issues in the Sector, and collaborate to find innovative ideas, learn from other experiences, and find a collective solution. The Discussion Threads are the main forum where this plays out. As such, all members must follow the following etiquette for the Threads to ensure thriving discussions:

  • State concisely and clearly the topic of your comments in the subject line. This allows members to respond appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for members to search by subject.
  • Use tags in your comment so that other members can easily find related pieces of content, and engage more deeply in the discussion (to do this, just use a hashtag before a keyword, e.g. #upskill).
  • Send messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" to individuals, not to the entire list. Do this by using the "Reply to Sender" link in every message.
  • Do not send administrative messages, such as “remove me from the list,” to the group.
